Woman doused in petrol at Lakemba
A woman has avoided being set on fire by fleeing from a man who repeatedly stabbed
her and then poured petrol over her, police say.
The man allegedly stabbed the 40-year-old woman during a domestic argument in
Yerrick Road, Lakemba, in Sydney's west, about 4.30pm (AEST) on Wednesday.
He then poured petrol over her.
The woman managed to escape being set alight by running to a premises further up the
road, police say.
Police were called and took the woman to Bankstown Hospital for treatment, where she
remains in a stable condition.
Police have since arrested a 62-year-old man over the incident.
He was taken to Campsie Police Station for questioning.
