Iran signs documents of 1st domestic-made ocean liner

Bandar Abbas, June 1, IRNA – Delivery documents of 1st Iranian manufactured ocean liner, Iran-Arak, were signed here Monday evening in presence of commerce minister and a number of country’s officials.
According to IRNA, the documents were signed between Farasahel Ship Building Company (IZWAICO), the Iranian manufacturer of the ship and the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL) as the buyer of the ocean liner.
On the sidelines of signing the Iran-Arak documents, the two sides also signed the documents of a hovercraft called Dorsa.
Manufacturing of Iran’s first ocean liner took seven years time.
The ship is 30 meters wide, 185 meters long and 18 meters high, weighing 7000 metric tons with a capacity of carrying 30.000 tons of cargo, equal to 2.200 container loads.
Iran-Arak Ocean Liner is capable of sailing the oceans non-stop for 25 days and the total cost of its manufacturing has been equal to 31 million US dollars./end
