ASTANA, June 1 (Itar-Tass) - A zero tax will be applicable for planes
imported to Kazakhstan in the framework of the Customs Union over the
transition period, Kazakhstan's Prime Minister Karim Masimov told the
members of the government on Tuesday.
"Presently, the Customs Union's a tax for planes is 20 percent," he
said. "However, the Russian aviation industry cannot as yet satisfy the
demand of our companies for modern high-class jets, and that is why we
have agreed that we shall have a zero tax over the transition period which
will be set during future talks."
"Customs duty for imported cars" is another important issue for
Kazakhstan, Masimov said.
"Over the complex negotiations we have agreed that our citizens will
have preferential duties, even better than those Kazakhstan used to have
earlier."
At the same time, he said, "it will be impossible to use the
preferential duties regimen if a car is sold in the Russian territory
later on."
"If a private person brings in two or more cars over a calendar year,
the duties will be higher," he added.
He called the introduced transition period for free economic zones an
"important result" of the meeting of prime ministers of the Customs Union
member states in St. Petersburg on May 28.
"We agreed that the existing preferential regimen would be effective
till 2017 for the residents of free economic zones who registered there
before January 1, 2012," Masimov said.
