Voters don't want Work Choices back

Voters won't like it if the Liberals try to return to workplace laws similar to the
dumped Work Choices regime, a poll has found.
An Essential Report poll, released on Monday, found most people think Opposition
Leader Tony Abbott will try to bring back such laws.
Two-thirds expressed concern at that prospect.
Almost half of those surveyed said they were less likely to vote for the Liberals if
they followed such a path - compared with just 14 per cent who said it would help
win their vote.
Even Liberal voters weren't totally won over - 62 per cent of them said a Work
Choices-style policy would not make them more likely to vote for the coalition.
Voters rejected the Liberals' Work Choices laws, which favoured individual contracts
and restricted unfair dismissal laws, at the 2007 election.
The laws have been dumped. The opposition has yet to detail what workplace policy it
will take to the election, although Mr Abbott has indicated some support for
elements of the Work Choices laws.
The Essential poll of 1000 people found the biggest concern about a return to Work
Choices was the removal of unfair dismissal rights.
Those surveyed were much more likely to believe the unions over Mr Abbott when it
came to debate over the return of Work Choices.
