Larijani: World Muslims must help vindicate Palestinians' rights

Tehran, May 31, IRNA – Iran's Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said on Sunday that the world Muslims should take timely action to vindicate rights of oppressed Palestinian nation.

Larijani made the remarks in a meeting with the Speaker of Indonesian House of Representatives Marzuki Ali.

He expressed indignation over the current humanitarian crisis in Palestine and crimes and atrocities committed by the Zionist regime in the occupied lands and said that the Asian Parliamentary Association (APA) would play major role to help restore the legitimate rights of Palestinian nation.

He said that Iran and Indonesia enjoying deep-rooted ties would cooperate on international issues as well as issues pertaining to Muslim World and that the grounds are well-prepared for expansion of economic cooperation.

Highlighting the significant role of parliaments to this effect, he voiced the readiness of the Iranian Majlis for expansion of parliamentary cooperation with Indonesia.

He called for enhancing the level of cooperation between private sectors of Iran and Indonesia and said that the move would lead to an economic boom.

The Speaker of Indonesian House of Representatives, for his part, said Jakarta attaches importance to expansion of friendly ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Given the significant role and status of Iran and Indonesia in the Muslim World, he said consolidation of economic cooperation will help uphold the status of Islamic states in global developments.

The Islamic Republic of Iran and Indonesia have adopted similar stand on regional and global developments such as Palestine, he said and underlined the need for taking a collective action to help the cause of Palestine.

The two speakers of parliament underlined the need for further expansion of economic, industrial as well as commercial cooperation./end
