Iranian businessmen problems discussed in Baku

Baku, May 30, IRNA – Ways to solve Iranian businessmen's problems were discussed here on Saturday in the presence of managing directors of Iran Melli Bank and Iran Export Guarantee Fund.

In the meeting, Iran’s ambassador to Baku, a number of businessmen, and directors of Iranian companies in Baku were present.

Managing Director of Melli Bank Mahmoud Reza Khavari, in his speech, expounded on Iran’s banking policy toward helping to develop goods export and engineering services.

Referring to the activities of Melli Bank in Baku, he promised expansion of banking services here in direction of providing more banking facilities for Iranian businessmen and investors and expressed hope that, upon primary agreements, new branches of the bank will open in a number of Azerbaijan Republic cities to offer better services and facilities to businessmen.

Managing Director of Iran Export Guarantee Fund Seyed Kamal Seyed Ali also expounded on his organization work and its role in developing export activities through establishing necessary guarantees for receiving dues.

Referring to a number of legal reforms in the fields of goods export, guarantees and custom affairs, Seyed Ali considered these measures in direction of developing goods export and other services.

He also expounded on some other actions by the fund in direction of facilitating measures for Iranian economic activists in the Azerbaijan Republic, including opening credit lines for a number of Azeri banks.

Iran’s Ambassador to Baku Mohammad Baqer Bahrami was the next speaker in the meeting, who expounded on embassy activities in this concern.
He asked Iranian businessmen and economic activists to establish an official body to coordinate their activities.

Some other participants also discussed their problems and needs.
Currently, the level of trade exchange between Iran and Azerbaijan Republic is around 600 to 700 million dollars, which considering many commonalities and geographical proximity is not an acceptable figure./end
