PACE OFFICIAL PRAISES AZERBAIJAN`S EFFORTS TO ENSURE GENDER EQUALITY AND PREVENT DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

Baku, May 26 (AzerTAc). The Azerbaijani government has made “great” efforts to ensure gender equality, strengthen the protection of human rights and prevent domestic violence, Chair of the PACE Committee on Equal Opportunities for Women and Men Jose Mendes Bota told journalists in a news conference on results of the 7th Council of Europe Conference of Ministers responsible for Equality between Women and Men in Baku.
“We especially praise ratification of a Council of Europe convention on combating human trafficking, as well as the adoption of a law on fighting against domestic violence by the Azerbaijani Parliament,” the PACE official underlined.
