Tehran Declaration, diplomatic victory for Iran : Jordanian politicians

Amman, May 26, IRNA – Several Jordanian politicians in interviews with IRNA here on Tuesday praised the Tehran Declaration on the nuclear fuel swap, calling it a diplomatic victory for Iran.

Secretary-General of the Jordanian Democratic Popular Unity Party, Saeed Thiyab Ali, said that the declaration indicated a political victory and an important and historical step toward Iranian national interests and a reason for Iran’s cooperation with the international community in the field of nuclear issue.

He added that the declaration shows Iran’s nuclear program is peaceful, underlining Tehran's legitimate right to use nuclear technology for peaceful goals.

Thiyab said that the west and especially the USA should accept Tehran Declaration and instead of imposing sanctions and pressure against Iran, start a dialog with the country.

One of the leaders of the Jordanian Democratic National Movement Yusuf al-Dauwi told IRNA that the Tehran Declaration was welcomed in the Arab and Islamic countries and created confusion in western countries and the US camp.

He added that the negative reaction of the US and its allies indicated their position against Iran, and shows that the US in interaction with the world countries still pursues dual standards.

Imposing sanctions cannot resolve problems, instead dialogs based upon respect and observing the rights of other countries in using peaceful nuclear technology would be the sole way to settle such problems like Iran’s nuclear issue, the Arab politician underlined./end
