Kyrgyz interim govt has plan for country`s development-Otunbayeva.
BISHKEK, May 25 (Itar-Tass) - The Kyrgyz interim government had a plan
for the country's development, Itar-Tass learnt at the government press
service.
This idea was expressed on Tuesday by President of the country's
transition period Roza Otunbayeva at a meeting with residents of the
Sokuluksky district.
"The new authorities have a road map for the country's development,
showing where the republic is now and where the next landmark will be as
well as where the course, chosen by the present government, leads," she
said.
Turning to the question of the constitutional reform, she noted that a
new draft of a Fundamental Law is offered for the referendum on June 27.
"It turned out that the two presidents who worked on the basis of the
presidential constitution, ended their rules dismally," Otunbayeva claimed.
"The new constitution, suggested by us, contains such a structure that
bars usurping power". According to the interim president, presidential
powers will be much weaker in the new constitution.
Otunbayeva also clarified why the duties of the president of the
transition period were vested with her. "This was done for establishing a
centre of decisions; the decision of the interim government on the decree
on a president of a transition period is to be confirmed by people during
nation-wide elections," she assured.
The interim president added at the same time that she fully
understands the load of responsibility, put on her for the destiny of the
republic. According to a decision of the interim government, the term of
powers of the president of the transition period expires on December 31,
2011. "These 18 months will ensure us smooth transition to stability," she
said confidently.
