India president to visit Beijing on Wednesday.
NEW DELHI, May 25 (Itar-Tass) -- Development of friendly relations
with China is one of foreign policy priorities of India, President of the
republic Pratibha Patil said in an interview with the news agency Xinhua
on Tuesday on the threshold of a visit to Beijing due to begin on
Wednesday.
According to Patil, she will visit China with pleasure in the year of
the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between
the two countries. She believes that India and China - - major states with
developing economies have many spheres for exchanging experience. As
Pratibha Patil stressed, they have common approaches to many global
problems and successfully cooperate within the framework of such
international organizations as G-20, BRIC and BASIC.
According to her, they coordinated their stands at the UN Climate
Change Conference in Copenhagen and can cooperate on issues of reforming
international financial institutions. The visit to Beijing, as she said,
will demonstrate the progress of Indian-Chinese summit contacts.
The Indian president expressed confidence that the volume of trade
turnover between the two countries will reach 60 billion dollars this
year. At the same time, she believes that the potential of trade and
economic relations of India and China has not been exhausted. India, she
added, welcomes increasing investments of Chinese companies in its economy.
Pratibha Patil specially noted that Indian-Chinese relations in the
sphere of culture have a millennial history. According to her, the
Festival of China in India and the Festival of India in China, which will
be held this year, will ever more strengthen ties of the two countries'
peoples.
