12th Annual Central Asia Media Conference to open in Dushanbe.

DUSHANBE, May 25 (Itar-Tass) -- The 12th Annual Central Asia Media
Conference will open in the Tajik capital on Tuesday. The conference will
focus on the problems of media access to information. The Organization for
Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) hosts the conference.
Representatives of media outlets from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan,
Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, as well as chief executives of
national journalist organizations and representatives of the civil society
will participate in the debates at the conference, the OSCE office in
Dushanbe said.
The participants in the forum will discuss the problems of regional
media access to information, international standards on access to
information, the freedom of speech and their putting into practice, as
well as the cooperation between the civil society and media.
The conference is to hold a presentation devoted to the Internet and
the free information stream in order to discuss international regulations
in the Internet, the legislation and policy for the Internet regulation,
the impact of restrictive measures on the free information stream in the
Internet. The conference will devote a session to the freedom of speech
for media in Central Asia.
Representatives of such major foreign news agencies as Reuters,
France-Presse and ITAR-TASS will also participate in the conference.
