UN SECRETARY GENERAL CONDEMNS KARABAKH ‘ELECTIONS’
Baku, May 25 (AzerTAc). The United Nations has sent a letter on May 23 to its Baku office regarding the "parliamentary elections" in Azerbaijan`s occupied territory of Nagorno-Karabakh, the UN office in Azerbaijan said.
The letter says that "the United Nations has not been involved in `parliamentary elections` slated for May 23, 2010, in Nagorno-Karabakh region of the Azerbaijan Republic". Moreover, the United Nations does not acknowledge the illegal `elections` and does recognize Nagorno-Karabakh as the integral part of Azerbaijan.
The United Nations approved recent positive dynamics in the process of peace negotiations in accordance with OSCE Minsk group`s proposals hoping that both Armenia and Azerbaijan will use the opportunities to push the process of peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh dispute ahead, the letter says.
