Iran’s letter submitted to IAEA chief - Soltanieh
Vienna, May 25, IRNA – Iran’s IAEA envoy Ali-Asghar Soltanieh said here Monday that Iran’s official letter on fuel swap, written on the basis of the May 17 Tehran Declaration, was handed over to the IAEA Chief Yukiya Amano by Iranian, Brazil and Turkish envoys.
Soltanieh told IRNA that delivery of the letter proves Iran’s commitment to its pledge made during talks among the Iranian and Brazilian presidents as well as Turkish premier within framework of Tehran Declaration.
He said, “This shows that the Islamic Republic of Iran is sincere both in word and deed and is committed to what it has promised.”
He added, “Other countries now have the chance to show their political will for constructive cooperation for peaceful use of nuclear energy within framework of the IAEA charter.”
“The IAEA in return is expected to provide necessary facilities within framework of the charter to materialize such an important humanitarian goal.”
The Iranian envoy said support of many countries for Tehran Declaration signifies support for multilateralism and opposition to unilateralism.
“The letter was submitted to Yukiya Amano at 10:30 am Vienna times by representatives of Iran, Brazil and Turkey,” he added.
The IAEA director general too, while thanking for delivery of the letter, provided assurances that he will soon pass on the letter to representatives of the US, Russia and France, and inform Iran of the results, said Soltanieh./end
