Int'l architectural congress begins in Sochi Tuesday.



SOCHI, May 25 (Itar-Tass) - An international architectural congress
begins here on Tuesday. World-level specialists are to share experience in
the designing, construction of Olympic facilities and their post-Olympics
use, Yuri Rysin, director of the Krasnodar Territory department for
architecture and urban development has told Itar-Tass.
Rysin pointed out, "Preparation for the Olympics is, apart from
important construction tasks, is an endeavour to introduce most up-to-date
technologies and design solutions so that we would enter the year 2014 at
our best, with the most interesting urban development and architectural
solutions and the possibility, which is very important to Sochi, of
post-Olympics use of those facilities as the heritage of the Games".
The congress will be attended by the leaders of the Union of the
Architects of Russia, the International Academy of Architecture, the
OlympStroj state corporation, representatives of foreign building firms
and major design institutes and architectural workshops. The congress has
been organized by the Territorial department for architecture and urban
development and the KNAUF CIS Group.
Congress organizers emphasize that the importance of the congress is
connected with the increasing pace of the construction of Olympic
facilities, the implementation of the concept of an integrated
architectural space of Sochi, and large-scale transformations launched in
this resort city.

.Italy car parts makers to discuss coop'n with AVTOVAZ.

SAMARA, May 25 (Itar-Tass) - A delegation of the producers of car
components from Italy's Turin is to arrive in the city of Togliatti on
Tuesday for a business visit, an official in the Togliatti city council
press service has told Itar-Tass.
The press service official pointed out, "The principal aim of the
visit is to establish production contacts with Russian suppliers to
organize co-production in Russia's territory and boost the delivery of
components to the Russian market".
The delegation includes the executives of 16 major Italian
enterprises that specialize in the production of systems and components of
transmission, suspension and the exhaust piping, thermoplastic components
for interior and exterior finishing of cars, electronic components,
equipment for assembly and control, the designing of carbodies, product
and process engineering. Most of the companies are suppliers of components
from such carmakers as Renault, Fiat, Volkswagen, General Electric,
Toyota, and Daimler.
The business mission has been organized by the Turin Chamber of
Commerce, the Togliatti city council, and the Volga branch of the Russian
Engineering Academy.
According to the AVTOVAZ strategic development plan, the major Russian
carmaker intends cardinally to reform the system of the purchases of
components so as to optimize spending and considerably to raise the
quality of cars.
In conjunction with Renault, AVTOVAZ is selecting a new circle of
suppliers and invites strategic partners to cooperate so that they could
subsequently account for over 80 percent of the deliveries of car
components.
AVTOVAZ president Igor Komarov said priority in the selection of
suppliers would be given to Russian enterprises. AVTOVAZ will suggest that
those of them which will not be fully up to the requirements establish
joint ventures.
According to AVTOVAZ vice-president for purchases Damir Kashapov, it
is planned to establish about 100 joint ventures before 2012.

.17th World IT Congress to open in Amsterdam on Tuesday.

THE HAGUE, May 25 (Itar-Tass) - More than 2,500 delegates from 88
countries will participate in the 17th World Congress on Information
Technologies, opening in Amsterdam on Tuesday.
Participants in this global three-day forum will discuss the most
advanced technologies and most vital problems in the field of information
science and means of communication.
Such a forum is held every two years in various countries. The first
IT congress was held in Barcelona in 1978, becoming since then one of
major international IT forums with the participation of leading business
executives, scientists and government officials.
This time the forum is to result in the signing of the so-called
Amsterdam Declaration, the draft of which urges all the sides concerned to
set ambitious goals, those aimed at boosting economic growth rate,
reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and raising the quality of life and
user confidence, as well as making sure that the attainment of these goals
has an effect on the entire world.
Next, the 18th, IT congress will be held in Montreal in 2012.
