AZERI MPs MEET PACE COMMITTEE CHIEF FOR GENDER EQUALITY
Baku, May 24 (AzerTAc). Members of Azerbaijan`s Parliament Rabiyyat Aslanova and Ali Huseynov have met chairman of the PACE Committee for Gender Equality Jose Mendes Bota.
Aslanova briefed the PACE official on what had been done in the country to ensure gender equality.
She said rights of men and women in Azerbaijan were protected by the country`s Constitution. She added a bill on fight against domestic violence will be discussed in Milli Majlis in the coming days.
Huseynov, in turn, highlighted the Azeri government`s work strengthen the protection of human rights and freedoms and fight against human trafficking.
He underlined Azerbaijan “which had put itself on the path of democratic development and integration into Europe” declared the protection of human rights one of its key priorities.
Bota praised the Azeri government`s efforts to protect human rights and freedoms, ensure gender equality and fight against domestic violence. He also hailed the fact that Azerbaijan had joined relevant conventions.
