TEL-AVIV, May 24 (Itar-Tass) -- Russian President Dmitry Medvedev sent
his greetings to participants and guests of the 12th World Congress of
Russian Press that opened here on Sunday.
"The World Congress of Russian Press brings together representatives
of the journalist community from many countries. The Congress makes a
tangible contribution in building up professional contacts, preserving
spiritual ties of our compatriots from their historical homeland and
spreading the Russian language and Russian culture," Medvedev said in a
message of greetings that chief of the Russian presidential executive
office Sergei Naryshkin read out at the opening of the forum.
The Russian president noted that the current meeting "is held in the
year when the 65th anniversary of the Great Victory is celebrated." "This
issue was the highlight for numerous Russian-speaking editions. It is
difficult to evaluate their role in the objective coverage of the Second
World War, in the counteraction to attempts at falsifying the history,"
the Russian president pointed out. "To protect the truth about the war is
our common duty," he noted.
Dmitry Medvedev expressed confidence that "the results of the current
media forum will contribute to further development of the international
information and humanitarian cooperation." The Russian president wished
participants and guests of the 12th World Congress of Russian Press
"fruitful work and successful implementation of joint projects."
