AZERBAIJAN EARNS NEARLY $94m FROM TRAFFIC VIA TRACECA IN FIRST QUARTER OF 2010
Baku, May 23 (AzerTAc). Cargo and passenger traffic via the Azerbaijani section of the TRACECA corridor earned the country AZN75.2 million or nearly $94m in the first three months of 2010, the State Statistical Committee said.
According to the official figures for January-March, traffic made 12.2 million tons in goods and 50.5 million in peoples, an increase of 8.5% and 7.9% respectively from a previous year.
The share of the railway transport in the overall amount of cargo traffic constituted 39.2%, motor transport 44.42% and sea transport 16.4%.
Cargo traffic via the Azerbaijani section of the corridor accounts for 28.2% in the overall amount of traffic in the transport sector.
