Tehran-Riyadh co-op, promising: Mottaki

Tehran, May 23, IRNA – Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said on Sunday that prospect of Tehran-Riyadh cooperation is promising.

In a meeting with the new Saudi Ambassador to Tehran Mohammad bin Abbas bin Hamza al-Kalabi, he welcomed further expansion of all-out ties between the two friendly countries.

The Islamic Republic of Iran and Saudi Arabia are two major countries at both regional and international levels which play strategic roles in resolving regional issues, Mottaki said.

Tehran and Riyadh enjoy common interests and concerns, he said, stressing that expansion of all-out ties between the two states would increase regional cooperation.

The Iranian foreign minister reiterated that promotion of Iran-Saudi Arabia cooperation would also help resolve the problems facing the World of Islam.

For his part, the new Saudi envoy voiced his country’s readiness to boost relations with Tehran.

He further lauded Iran’s key role in regional developments.

During the meeting the Saudi ambassador presented a copy of his credentials to Mottaki./end
