Iran condoles Indian government on plane tragedy

Tehran, May 22, IRNA – Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast on Saturday expressed condolences to the Indian people and the government on the recent tragic plane crash which killed 159 passengers and crew in Mangalore, southern India.
Mehmanparast expressed the condolences of Iranian nation and government to the bereaved victim families and prayed for their patience.
The Air India Express flight was landing an Mangalore airport when it careered out of control and skid off the runway into a pond.
Eight of the 160 passengers and six crew initially survived even though the plane split into two and caught fire after it slid down a steep slope into dense vegetation.
However, one of these survivors, a seven-year-old boy, later died in hospital./end
