Official: Russia-Iran technical-military-energy co-op will continue

Moscow, May 22, IRNA - Head of Russian Duma’s International Affairs Commission Constantine Cossachiev said here Friday that technical, military and energy cooperation between Iran and Russia will continue.

Cossachiev made the statement in an interview with the semi-official Interfax news agency, adding, “Iran’s Bushehr Nuclear Reactor will be put to use in the summer of 2010 and Moscow will keep on cooperating in technical, military and energy fields with Iran.”

Evaluating Iran-Brazil-Turkey communiqué regarding the nuclear fuel swap deal with the west as a positive and constructive move, Cossacheiv said that, “the important move made in Tehran proves Iran’s will to cooperate in nuclear field with the world.”

Head of the International Affairs Commission of the Russian Federation’s Lower House Michael Margiloff, too, here Friday referring to the US efforts aimed at imposing dual strain against Iran, said, “no problem can affect the signed contracts between Iran and Russia.

Margiloff who was speaking at a press conference added, “Such issues are related to Russia’s nation economy and therefore no issue can affect them.”

Meanwhile, the Head of the Defense Affairs Commission of the same parliament, Victor Uzrev, too, said at the same press conference that
“Russia is the only partner that feels committed towards keeping respecting its promises and meeting its commitments” (save for those regarding the Bushehr Nuclear Reactor and the S300s)./end
