Finance Ministry plans measures to help those affected by political chaos
BANGKOK, May 21 (TNA) - Deputy Finance Minister Pradit Pattaraprasit on Friday chaired a meeting with agencies concerned and representatives of protest-hit entrepreneurs in Ratchaprasong to discuss rehabilitation measures to help businesses, entrepreneurs and individuals suffering from Thailand's violent political turmoil.
Managers of the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Bank of Thailand (SME Bank) and of the Fiscal Policy Office also attended the meeting.
The measures discussed were to offer SME Bank credit to entrepreneurs within a Bt5 billion limit, already previously approved, and which will be lent to each business affected by the violent protests of no more than Bt3 million.
The first year of the loan would be interest-free, said Mr Pradit. After that period, a -3 per cent MLR interest will be considered according to each case's condition. If an SME entrepreneur's account is listed in the national credit bureau, he or she will be approved of credit loan only if guaranteed by the department store at which he or she has retail business, but if not, the consideration on credit offer will be on a case by case basis.
The other measures are those discussed by the Finance Minister on Thursday including tax measures to reduce the entrepreneurs and individuals' burden. The Ministry will also consider other help schemes by directly paying cash to those affected by the political chaos. The discussion's conclusions will be proposed to the cabinet for consideration next Tuesday. (TNA)
