NKorea to send inspection commission to ship sinking area.
PYONGYANG, May 20 (Itar-Tass) - Findings referring to involvement of
the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) in the sinking of the
South Korean navy ship Cheonan "were fully fabricated in order to mislead
the public opinion both in South Korea and abroad", stated an official of
the National Defence Committee (NDC) which is in charge of ensuring the
security of the People's Republic, the KCNA news agency reported on
Thursday.
The NDC official said a "group of South Korean traitors", despite
warnings on the part of Pyongyang, issued findings on the so-called joint
investigation, asserting that the ship had been sunk as a result of the
DPRK's torpedo attack. At the same time, the NDC statement pointed out,
Seoul "vociferously calls for retaliatory measures, urging the
international community to apply additional sanctions with regard to our
country".
This "nasty propaganda campaign, initiated by traitors headed by Lee
Myung-bak (President of South Korea), has been backed by the United States
and Japan which continue to pursue a hostile policy with regard to the
DPRK".
In the light of this, the statement points out, the NDC has decided
"to send its own inspection commission to the ship sinking area in order
to verify proofs that allegedly evidence the DPRK's involvement in the
incident".
Besides, the NDC official warned that "the country's people and army
will react to various kinds of 'sanctions' and 'punishments' by taking
tough measures, including military actions". The NDC official also thinks
that in the current situation the US and Japan "ought to show discretion
and caution".
