Medvedev to meet Namibian president to discuss economic projects.

MOSCOW, May 20 (Itar-Tass) - Russia and Namibia will sign a set of
documents after the talks between President Dmitry Medvedev and President
Hifikepunye Lucas Pohamba in Moscow on Thursday, the Kremlin press service
said.
"During the visit to Moscow by the head of the Namibian state it is
planned to sign a number of inter-governmental and interstate documents,
including inter-governmental agreements on cooperation in the field of
fisheries and mutual protection of rights to intellectual property used
and obtained in the course of bilateral military-technical cooperation, a
memorandum of intent between the Government of the Russian Federation and
the Government of Namibia regarding the development of cooperation in the
field of uranium prospecting and production in Namibia, and other
documents," the presidential press service said.
The talks with the Namibian leader - both at the Kremlin with the
president of Russia and on Thursday evening with Prime Minister Vladimir
Putin - will focus mainly on the strengthening of economic ties.
"In the course of the upcoming talks the heads of state will focus on
the possibility of expanding Russia's investment participation in key
projects, including in prospecting for and producing mineral resources,
hydrocarbons, in developing electric power generation, in the fields of
fisheries, transport, tourism, and humanitarian interaction," the press
service said.
The Namibian president is making an official visit to Moscow on May
19-21 at the invitation of President Medvedev. The presidents of the two
countries will hold talks in the Kremlin on May 20.
"The presidents of the two countries will discuss a wide range of
issues, international and regional problems. The parties will exchange
views on key problems of Africa."
Medvedev and Pohamba are expected to discuss the sustainable
development of African countries, peacekeeping efforts, and ways to settle
conflicts that hinder stable social and economic development of African
countries.
Trade turnover between Russia and Namibia reached about five million
U.S. dollars in 2009 as compared to 6.2 million U.S. dollars in 2008 and
6.6 million U.S. dollars in 2007.
