FIRE RAVAGES HUNDREDS OF GARMENT KIOSKS
Jakarta, July 11 (ANTARA) - Fire ravaged hundreds of garment kiosks in densely-populated Tanah Sereal in Tambora subdistrict, West Jakarta, on Friday night.
Fire fighters had difficulties putting out the blaze that broke out at around 4.30 p.m. due to lack of water sources, the West Jakarta Fire Department said.
Until 8.00 p.m. fire fighters with 35 fire engines were still struggling to extinguish the flames, it said.
A number of injured residents were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Howerver, there was no immediate report of casualties.
Police are still looking into the cause of the fire.
On October 4 last year, fire also ravaged hundreds of houses in neighboring Bukit Duri Selatan, leaving 350 families displaced.
