Two killed, 62 injured in unrest in Kyrgyz Jalalabad.
BISHKEK, May 19 (Itar-Tass) - Two people were killed and 62 have
sought medical aid during unrest that began on Wednesday in the regional
city of Jalalabad, the Kyrgyz Healthcare Ministry's sources told Tass.
According to the sources, two of hospitalised people are in a grave
condition.
The interim government issued on Wednesday a special statement, which
stressed that mass unrest in Jalalabad had been triggered by allies of
former president Kurmanbek Bakiyev.
"Today's developments in the city were preceded by a number of
provocations aimed at incitement of ethnic hatred by henchmen of the
former regime, including by those who have felt secure staying in certain
countries," the statement said.
The interim government has urged citizens of Kyrgyz and Uzbek
nationalities not to give in to provocations.
