Kyrgyzstan cuts irrigation water supplies to Kazakhstan

ASTANA, May 19 (Itar-Tass) -- Kyrgyzstan has cut irrigation water
supplies to Kazakhstan's southern regions, providing no excuses, a
spokesman for Kazakhstan's Ministry of Agriculture said on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, regional experts reported water level lowering in the
Kirovsky water storage reservoir in Kyrgyzstan, Talgat Makhanov told
journalists, adding that merely 10 cubic metres of water are currently
being supplied from the reservoir.
According to Makhanov, the issue is currently being tackled by the
Kazakh Foreign Ministry. Experts from the Kazakh Ministry of Agriculture
"went to Bishkek but found no one there to explain the reason," he said.
