Expansion of African ties, Iran's major policy - VP

Tehran, May 19, IRNA – First Vice-President Mohammad-Reza Rahimi said here on Wednesday that the Islamic Republic of Iran’s major policy is to expand ties with the African states including Kenya.

Rahimi made the remarks in a meeting with visiting Kenyan Vice-President Stephene Kalonzo Musyoka and said Tehran attaches importance to Nairobi.

The Iranian government is determined to institutionalize promotion of relations with the African countries, the Iranian first vice-president said.

Rahimi said there is no hindrance to fostering the Tehran-Nairobi cooperation, adding Iran is ready to share its scientific, technological, industrial and medical experiences with Kenya.

Meanwhile, the Kenyan official said Iran’s relations with Africa would benefit the independent countries worldwide.

Calling the Tehran Declaration at the G15 Summit on May 17 as successful, Musyoka said his country always supports Iran in regards to its peaceful nuclear activities./end
