COUNCIL FOR STATE SUPPORT TO NGOS HOLDS ‘ROUNDTABLE’ ON ROLE OF LOCAL NGOS TO INFORM INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY ABOUT KARABAKH CONFLICT
Baku, May 18 (AzerTAc). The Council for State Support to NGOs under the President of Azerbaijani Republic today has convened a “roundtable” meeting to discuss ways of raising awareness of the international community about realities concerning the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Participants of the event exchanged views on the projects realized by the Council and various NGOs to inform the world community about the “fair” position of Azerbaijan over the problem.
The chairman of the Council and MP Azay Guliyev said Azerbaijani NGOs had achieved “significant progress” in this regard.
However, Guliyev added “NGOs have no rights to make political decision, but they can raise awareness of the international community about realities of the conflict”.
The chairman said the Council is currently funding 46 projects on this matter.
Addressing the “roundtable”, member of the Parliament Malahat Ibrahimgizi stated that Azerbaijani NGOs should make extra efforts and work harder on the issue.
