Analyst: Tehran agreement, détente in Iran nuclear programs

Moscow, May 18, IRNA – A Russia analyst said that the Tehran agreement was an important step towards détente in Iran’s nuclear programs.

Maxim Shevchenko, who is a renowned Russian journalist and TV person, commented on the great importance of the agreement on fuel swap reached by Iran-Brazil-Turkey and said Iran proved its good-will on settling disputes over its nuclear program by signing this agreement.

In an exclusive interview with IRNA on Tuesday, he also believed that the member states of 5+1, too, should act accordingly and take practical steps to resume nuclear talks with Iran.

Pointing out that Iran has always allowed the International Atomic Energy Agency experts to inspect its nuclear facilities which he said proved Tehran’s honesty and transparency, Shevchenko said this was while a number of other countries like the Zionist regime showed no kind of cooperation with the nuclear watchdog.

He regretted that despite their lack of transparency, these countries were backed by big powers.

The Russian journalist further said that after the recent agreement, western countries will have no excuses to hold on to in introducing further sanctions against Iran.

Shevchenko believe that positive results could be expected only when cooperation and coordination be adopted as the best option for settling Iran’s nuclear case./end
