RF-Poland forum of regions to open in Warsaw Tuesday.
WARSAW, May 18 (Itar-Tass) -The second forum of the regions of Russia
and Poland opens here on Tuesday. It will be attended by Sergei Mironov,
Speaker of the Federation Council upper house of the Russian parliament,
and Bogdan Borusewicz, Marshal of the Polish Senate.
Mironov told Itar-Tass, "In all, 30 Russian regions are represented at
the forum. Their delegations include five governors, ten chairmen of
regional legislative assemblies, 19 senators, regional ministers, and the
mayors of cities".
Participants in the forum will discuss matters concerning Russo-Polish
economic cooperation at the regional level, as well as joint activities in
the fields of culture, science, education, youth contacts, and sports.
Discussions will be held within the framework of three roundtable
meetings, one of which will be fully devoted to local self-government
problems.
The second forum of the regions of the two countries is held under the
auspices of the Polish Senate and Russia's Federation Council. It has
become known here that a third forum will be held in Russia, with high
technologies being the main subject for discussion.
