RF, Ukraine borderguards to coordinate positions on coop'n.

ROSTOV-ON-DON, May 18 (Itar-Tass) - Widely representative delegations
of the border guarding agencies of Russia and Ukraine meet here on Tuesday
to discuss interaction matters, an official in the press service of the
FSB (Russia's Federal Security Service) regional border department for the
Southern Federal District (SFD) has told Itar-Tass.
The Russian delegation is headed by Colonel General Vyacheslav
Dorokhin, First Deputy Chief of the Border Service of the FSB, and the
Ukrainian one is led by Colonel General Pavel Shisholin, First Deputy
Chairman of the State Border Service.
The press service official specified, "The purpose of the working
meeting between the border guards is to coordinate positions on the
principal matters of Russo-Ukrainian border cooperation. The sides are
expected to discuss such subjects as the implementation of the
intergovernmental agreement on a procedure for the crossing of the
Russo-Ukrainian border by the residents of the border regions of Russia
and Ukraine, the functioning of consular stations at the Russo-Ukrainian
state border, the functioning of working groups for the optimization of
bilateral cooperation, etc. As a result of the meeting the sides are to
sign a bilateral Protocol".
The overall length of the Russo-Ukrainian state border is 1,245.8 km,
including 1,500.2 km of land border, 422.2 km of riveraine one, 3.4 km of
lake border, as well as 320 km of sea border.
Individual sectors of the Russo-Ukrainian border are within the zone
of responsibility of the SFD border agencies: the Border Department of
Russia's FSB for Rostov Region, as well as the Black Sea-Azov border
department of the FSB Coast Guard (Krasnodar Territory).
The Russo-Ukrainian state border section, which is within the zone of
responsibility of the above-mentioned border agencies of the SFD, is more
than 1,186 km long.
