Deputy premier Surapong awaits 2-3-digit lotteries case result
BANGKOK, July 11 (TNA) - Deputy Prime Minister/Finance Minister Surapong Suebwonglee on Friday said that as far regarding the case of two and three-digit lotteries, it is to be determined on July 28 whether Thailand's Supreme Court Criminal Division would accept the case submitted by the Assets Examination Committee (AEC) The question lies in the legal technicality as to whether the AEC is ableto press charges instead of the Office of the Attorney General (OAG).
If the case is accepted, it must be decided if the charge against Mr.
Surapong while he held cabinet membership in the Thaksin Shinawatraadministration would impact his current roles.
Three ministers of the Samak Sundaravej government -- Surapong Suebwonglee, Uraiwan Thienthong and Anurak Jureemart -- might be liable for the lotteries case since they held positions in the Thaksin Shinawatra's cabinet which legalised the two-three-digit lotteries. (TNA)
