PM MEETS WB'S REGIONAL DIRECTOR
SANA'A, May 15 (Saba) – Prime Minister Ali Mujawar met here on Saturday the World Bank's team led by the Regional Director of Middle East and North Africa David David Craig.
In the meeting, the two sides discussed cooperation relations between Yemen and the Bank in the fields of development and restructure, as well as ways of developing the economic role of the private sector in serving the socioeconomic development.
Moreover, they dealt with the process of reforms in areas of taxes, tenders, government procurements, transparency and the explorative industries, in addition to aspects relating to enhancing the financial stability and the good governance.
The premier praised the technical support provided by the WB to Yemen in the fields of development and restructure for a number of administrative and economic sectors, noting in this regard to the positive results achieved within the comprehensive national reforms agenda.
He drew to the big attention given by the government to enhance the private sector's vital role in the process of development and investment in the various fields in order to confirm its effective contribution in serving the national economy to reduce the unemployment and poverty.
For his part, the WB's official affirmed the Bank's keenness to enhance the level of cooperation with Yemen and development partners to serve the Yemeni development programs, pointing to the important gains made by Yemen at the developmental and economic levels and what the government is doing to address the current challenges facing the national economy.
Furthermore, the WB's official reviewed projects to be implemented by the WB, particularly with regard to the financial stability and governance and developing the private sector's role in the development process.
