Baku unveils 2nd volume of Shahnama in Azeri

Baku, May 15, IRNA – The second volume of Shahnama, (the national epic of Persian-speaking world) which has been translated in the Azeri language was unveiled in a ceremony here on Friday afternoon.

In the event, which was held by Iran’s embassy cultural attaché office, Iran’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan Republic Mohammad Baqer Bahrami and Supreme Leader representative in Iran’s embassy Hojjatoleslam Ali Akbar Ojaqnejad talked about the importance of the Shahnama and praised 30 years of hard work by late professor Mohammad Mobarez Alizadeh for translating the work in the Azeri language.

The first volume of the book was published in 2007 by Iran’s cultural attaché office in Baku.

A number of university professors and scholars also delivered speeches in the ceremony.

Shahnama is a masterpiece of Iranian well-known epic poet Abolqassem Ferdowsi which was witten over 1,000 years ago./end
