Bokeo APB branch loans 9.1 bln kip to rice farmers

(KPL) The Agricultural Promotion Bank (APB) branch in Bokeo province has released more than 9 billion kip of credits to local rice farmers.

In the first half of this year, the APB has released loans for the cash crop plantations, livestock production, mining, industries, trade and services inthis northern province.

Low interest loans were given for industrial production (350 million kip), construction projects (60 million kip), construction materials (280 million kip), agriculture and forestry (6.9 billion kip), 1.2 billion kip for commerce and 268 million kip for services, said Head of the Bokeo provinceAPB branch, Mr. Bounthueng Chanthavong.

According to the bank annual target, this year it plans to release 11.3 billion kip but up to date it has already released 10.6 billion kip to local businessmen. This figure accounts for 93 percent of the total allocation for this year's first six months. The bulk of the allocation went to ricefarmers and other food crop planters.
