Crows lose Thompson with calf injury

A calf injury will keep Adelaide midfielder Scott Thompson out of Saturday night's
AFL game against North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium.
Thompson's loss is a blow for the Crows, as he was one of their best in last Sunday
night's win over Richmond, and comes after defender Graham Johncock withdrew with a
shoulder injury.
Thompson was replaced by Tony Armstrong.
Hawthorn settled on five changes for Sunday's clash against Richmond at the MCG, but
regained skipper Sam Mitchell and star forward Lance Franklin from injury.
Recruits Shaun Burgoyne (ex-Port Adelaide) and Wayde Skipper (ex-Western Bulldogs)
will play their first games for the Hawks, while small forward Cameron Stokes was
recalled.
Midfielder Chance Bateman is suspended, but premiership defender Rick Ladson, along
with Jarryd Morton, Liam Shiels and Ryan Schoenmakers were dropped following last
Saturday's loss to West Coast.
The Tigers made three changes, and brought in Nathan Foley, Angus Graham and Mitch
Farmer for Dean Polo (suspended), Andrew Collins and David Astbury.
Port Adelaide will be without forwards Warren Tredrea (ankle) and Nathan Krakouer
(groin) for Sunday's game against Carlton at AAMI Stadium.
Jay Schulz and Cameron Hitchcock are their replacements, while the Blues retained
the same side that thrashed St Kilda on Monday night.
Essendon utility Nathan Lovett-Murray will miss Sunday night's game against the
Saints because of a foot injury, while defender Henry Slattery is out with a back
injury.
The Bombers promoted Leroy Jetta and David Myers but could not find a place for
experienced forward Mark Williams, who is an emergency.
