55 SOMALIS REACH YEMEN COASTS

HADRAMOUT, May 14 (Saba)- A suspected smuggling boat has send down
55 would-be refugees of Somalia on the coast of Broome town in
Hadramout province, east Yemen.

Broom police said on Friday that the Somalis, including 9 women,
were aged between 22-40 years.

The Security Information Center said that the Somalis had been
placed together from the coast and handed over to a UNHCR
representative to transfer them to a temporary camp of refugees in
Shabwa province.

The center added that the port town of Broome had received since the
beginning of May more than 800 Somalis, including several women and
children, in daily waves of illegal infiltration.

Yemeni authorities have prevented Somali refugees from leaving the
refugees camps without permission.
