AZERI MINISTER OF LABOR AND SOCIAL PROTECTION OF POPULATION MEETS UNICEF REGIONAL DIRECTOR FOR CEE/CIS
Baku, May 14 (AzerTAc). Azerbaijan`s Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Population Fuzuli Alakbarov has met UNICEF Regional Director for CEE/CIS Steven Allen.
Alakbarov spoke of Azerbaijan`s socio-economic development, describing the country “the regional leader”.
The minister highlighted the government`s measures to strengthen the protection of children`s rights.
“Declaration of 2009 as the Year of the Child by the head of state, and president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva`s constant attention to children`s problems are vivid example of this”.
Allen, in turn, praised what had been done in Azerbaijan to strengthen the protection of children and their rights.
Allen stressed: “UNICEF welcomes initiatives aimed at protecting children in Azerbaijan.”
