HEAD OF EU DELEGATION TO AZERBAIJAN BRIEFS JOURNALISTS ON 60TH ANNIVERSARY OF UNITED EUROPE

Baku, May 13 (AzerTAc). Head of the European Union Delegation to Azerbaijan Roland Kobia has held a press conference on the 60th anniversary of the united Europe.
Kobia said the signing of the Schuman Declaration 60 years ago laid the foundation of the future European Union.
“Schuman tried to establish a union that would bring together the Western European countries. And this was the new concept of relations among these states. The main idea of the then French foreign minister, Robert Schuman, was to establish a single area for coal, iron ore and metallurgy among the countries of Western Europe,” he said.
Kobia said the Schuman concept had influenced on establishment of stability and peace in the European region.
The EU countries mark 9 May as the day of the establishment of united Europe.
