Iran's envoy appreciates Pakistan's aid program

Islamabad, May 12, IRNA -- Iran’s ambassador to Islamabad has lauded a Pakistani aid program, saying that it will mitigate the problems of poor.
Masha’Allah Shakeri was talking to Ms. Farzana Raja, chairperson of Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), a program to give one thousand rupees every month to the poor and needy.
Farzana Raja apprised Shakeri of the current status of the various initiatives, including Cash Grant, Emergency Relief Package, Waseela-e-Haq, Health Insurance, and Vocational Training Program, started by the BISP for the well being of the marginalized and under-privileged sections of the society.
The Iranian ambassador praised the steps taken for the welfare of the poor.
Shakeri appreciated the efforts of BISP, adding that the program will be a role model for other social protection programs of the region.
He underlined the fact that the BISP is working for betterment of the underprivileged sections of the society at grass-root levels.
Shakeri apprised Farzana Raja of the charity work being undertaken by Imam Khomeini Relief Foundation in Iran, which is being run over the past three decades. He also invited Farzana Raja to visit Iran to meet her counterpart to exchange views and experiences. Ms. Farzana Raja accepted the invitation./end
