Iran's envoy to Riyadh confers with Saudi state minister

Riyadh, May 12, IRNA – Iran’s new ambassador to Saudi Arabia conferred here with the Saudi Arabian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Nizar bin Obaid Madani, on Tuesday.

In the meeting, both sides discussed ways to expand bilateral cooperation.

Nizar Madani called for continuation of consultations between officials of both countries as a necessary step, asking for taking positive steps toward removing existing obstacles and challenges in mutual ties.

Mohammad Javad Rasouli Mahallati, for his part, referred to the old relations between the two countries and underlined that Iran and Saudi Arabia are among important and influential countries in the region and proximity of their viewpoints in confronting regional crises can help to secure security and stability in the region.

Mahallati also held talks with Saudi Arabian Deputy Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs Mohammad bin Abdulrahman Salloum./end
