FM spokesman: Tehran G15 summit enthusiastically welcomed

Tehran, May 11, IRNA – Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehman-Parast said on Monday that along with member states of G15, leaders of other countries will attend the G15 Summit as special guests.

Tehran is to host the G15 summit on May 17.

Speaking to IRNA, he said the presidents of five countries have confirmed their participation so far.

G15 foreign ministers meeting is to be held prior to G15 Summit, he said.

Iran is the current chairman of the G15, he said, adding that the participating countries have enthusiastically welcomed the event in Tehran and potentials members from three continents of Africa, Asia and Latin America will attend the summit aiming to broaden economic cooperation among the states.

International as well as regional issues are on the agenda of such meetings, he said.

The Islamic Republic of Iran is to attend the OIC foreign ministers meeting in Tajikistan in the second half of May, he pointed out.

G 15 was established 20 years ago with two major goals of strengthening South-South cooperation and facilitating dialogue between South and North.

Influential and important developing countries like Brazil, Egypt, Iran, Mexico, Malaysia and Indonesia are among members of G15./end
