Army ground forces start drill in south of Iran

Chabahar, Sistan and Baluchestan Prov, May 10, IRNA – Iran’s Army Ground Forces started the first stage of its operations in continuation of the “Velayat 89” war games Monday morning by targeting the hypothetical enemy from a distance of 20 kms.

The maneuver is being launched in the region of Chabahar in the southeastern Iranian province of Sistan and Baluchestan and in the presence of Commander of Iran’s Army Ground Forces Brigadier General Ahmad-Reza Pourdastan.

Talking to IRNA, Pourdastan said the ground forces could prepare the ground for furthering the stated aims of the war games.

The “Velayat 89” military drill aims at testing how quick the reaction of the army ground forces will be when facing the enemies, the commander added.

Different units of the Iranian Army displayed defensive and deterrent naval power in a vast area which included the Persian Gulf, Sea of Oman and the northern Indian Ocean regions./end
