President Ahmadinejad announces new name for domestic car
Kashan, Isfahan prov, May 10, IRNA – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad announced Sunday a new name for the Iranian car previously called ‘Miniature.’
The new name, ‘Tiba’ (Deer), is to be used for the automobile which is completely designed and manufactured by Iranian auto-making experts in the Kashan Saipa Factory.
The president made the announcement on the sidelines of a ceremony held to inaugurate the Saipa Kashan Factory in this central city.
The factory is the largest car manufacturing site in the Middle East region and is to to manufacture national cars such as the S-81s and Saipa 111s.
Built on a 318-hectar land, the Saipa Kashan site has an annual capacity of manufacturing 150,000 S-81 and Saipa 111 cars.
According to reports, over rials 4,000 billion was spent for the factory’s construction.
The major part of the budget was spent on purchasing machinery, facilities and production lines./end
