Iran's Majlis speaker heads for Turkey

Tehran, May 10, IRNA – Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani left Tehran for Turkey where he is to attend an OIC parliamentary urgent meeting.

The urgent meeting of the executive committee of Parliamentary Union of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) will focus on the consequences of construction of new Jewish settlement in the holy Qods by the Zionist regime.

Talking to reporters prior to his departure, he voiced Tehran’s great concern over the recent developments in the occupied lands.

Jewish settlement construction on the Israeli-occupied lands and the compulsory migration of tens of thousands of Palestinians from the West Bank will top the agenda of the OIC meeting, Larijani added.

Condemning the Zionists' atrocities in the occupied Palestinian territories in the past decades, he regretted that the western states have been either silence towards the crimes or supported the Zionists' approach towards the innocent Palestinian nation.

Denouncing Washington’s support for the Zionist regime, he noted that the US is fully aware of the crimes being committed by the Israeli forces in the occupied lands.

Parliament speakers from Turkey, Indonesia, Syria, Uganda, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Cameroon and Burkina Faso are attending the three-day OIC parliamentary meeting.

Larijani will also meet several senior Turkish officials as well as representatives of other Islamic nations to the meeting on the sidelines of the event./end
