Gas repairs in NSW south `near complete`
Gas supply should be returned to all homes and businesses the NSW Southern Highlands
by the end of the weekend, says supplier Jemena.
Some 9000 buildings in Bowral, Mittagong and surrounding towns had their gas supply
cut on Thursday because of equipment failure.
Jemena said as of 4pm (AEST) on Sunday, 90 per cent of the 4,000 homes and
businesses in Mittagong, Braemar, Welby, Willowvale and Colo Vale had their gas
supply restored.
Supply to Bowral and Burradoo was restored on Saturday.
"We are on track therefore to have supply restored to all 9,000 homes and businesses
by the end of (Sunday)," the company said in a statement on Sunday.
"Jemena is keeping crews on the ground to `tidy up' on Monday any customers whose
properties we have not been able to access over the weekend for re-lighting
appliances."
Priority for the re-lighting plan was given wherever possible to hospitals, nursing
homes and aged care homes.
