KRASNOYARSK, May 8 (Itar-Tass) -- Four people were injured in a
coalmine methane explosion in the Kemerovo Region, and 175 may remain
underground, a source at the regional department for emergencies told
Itar-Tass on Saturday.

coalmine methane explosion in the Kemerovo Region, and 175 may remain
underground, a source at the regional department for emergencies told
Itar-Tass.
According to the preliminary information, methane exploded in the
Raspadskaya mine, the Kemerovo Region, when 312 workers were underground.
The source said 137 people were brought out to the surface, and four
of them were injured.
Rescuers were working at the site. What caused the explosion has yet
to be established.

KEMEROVO, May 8 (Itar-Tass) -- A powerful methane explosion occurred
in the Raspadskaya mine in Mezdurechensk, the Kemerovo Region, at about
20:50 Moscow time on Saturday. At the moment, 312 people were in the mine,
the regional administration press service told Itar-Tass.
About 140 people came outside, and 170 remained underground. People
continued to come out of the mine.
Rescuers were working at the site. Headquarters are set up to deal
with the accident. The region's Governor Aman Tuleyev heads the
operational group.
According to the preliminary information, the explosion destroyed
three buildings.
Several people were injured in the explosion. According to an
emergency department source, the blast occurred at 20:55 Moscow time.
The rescue operation continued. The mine premises were examined.

The explosion occurred in the mine at 23:55 local time (20:55 Moscow
time) on Saturday.
