Saudi official underlines necessity of Tehran-Riyadh cooperation

Riyadh, May 9, IRNA – Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz Emir of Riyadh in a meeting with Iran’s new Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Mohammad Javad Rasouli Mahallati underlined the necessity of expansion of cooperation between Tehran and Riyadh.

In the meeting, which took place here on Saturday, the Saudi official, by referring to the excellent positions of the two countries in the region, said that Iran and Saudi Arabia have potentials, sources, and capacities on which enemies of the Muslims are casting covetous eyes.

Riyadh emir said that Iran and Saudi Arabia are among important and effective countries in the region and in the Islamic world, so it is not possible to ignore their strategic roles in regional political equations.

Mahallati, for his part, by referring to the historical, Islamic and cultural commonalities between the two countries, stressed that promotion of regional cooperation between Iran and Saudi Arabia could be an appropriate model for other countries of the region as well as Islamic world.

He added that the two countries have many capacities, so they should try to expand cooperation in all fields in accordance with their existing capabilities./end
