MP denounces UNSC permanent members statement on Iran

Tehran, May 9, IRNA – Member of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission called the latest statement of five permanent members of the UN Security Council against Iran as a political scoffing.

Mahmoud Ahmadi Bighash told IRNA on Saturday that such statements are not new adding that they want Iran to ignore its legal right which is not a logical and lawful desire and has no value.

He said that Iran is a member of NPT and its nuclear activity is in the framework of international law and has proved many times that it has not had any deviation.

Referring to participation of Iranian senior delegation in NPT Review Conference in New York, Ahmadi Bighash said that President

He stressed that participating statesmen in the conference realized that Iran has been oppressed and will never ignore its right with the public support.

The Majlis deputy continued that Iran’s presence in the conference made European and the US governments nerves and because of that they issued such a statement which has no legal and logical value.

The five permanent members of the UN Security Council in a statement have called Iran to follow the council resolutions; while International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has underlined many times that Iran’s nuclear program has been peaceful and in accordance with international agreements./end
