Red Shirt leaders require 1-2 more days to conclude proposal
BANGKOK, May 8 (TNA) - The anti-government 'Red Shirt' United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) needs one or two more days to conclude its proposal for national reconciliation, but it will not derail the road map for pacification in the country, according to top UDD leader Natthawut Saikua.
Mr Natthawut said that within the next one or two days, the UDD will issue its own statement--its own proposal, different from the five-point road map of Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva.
He added that the UDD proposal would be flexible, but gave no indication when the Red Shirts might stand down from their demonstration.
The UDD leadership realises that the people across the country want to see a better atmosphere, and they will try to make it, he said, adding that they will meet again Sunday to discuss and iron out their proposal.
Meanwhile, the Multi-Coloured shirt and representatives from the Thailand social network Facebook anti-House dissolution page which supports Mr Abhisit staged a mass rally at Wong Wien Yai traffic circle, to show their determination to protect the monarchy.
Dr Tul Sitthisomwong , the group coordinator, urged the prime minister to exercise courage to disperse the Red Shirt protesters at Ratchaprosong intersection. He said the group would continue to rally until the Red Shirts end their protest. (TNA)
